About inDialogue
The inDialogue IT software helps to plan social consultations, which are then conducted in a traditional way (face-to-face meetings, paper surveys) or via the Internet (text debates, voice debates, plenary meetings with experts, electronic surveys). It supports teamwork, e.g. by delegating tasks, comment exchange system, creating a common database of experts and project archives. It conveys in a practical way, through instructions and forms, knowledge about the methodology of social consultations, which is conducive to good quality results. It allows you to automate some activities, e.g. by copying a consultation plan, transferring a consultation plan to a report.
The interface of the consultation organizer allows you to present the objectives of the consultation, prepare information materials for consultation participants, select experts from the expert database, select data collection tools (survey, tools for group moderated text or voice debates), conduct consultations with their use and prepare a report. The consultation participant interface allows you to comment on the information materials proposed for the debate (before its start), take part in a survey, moderated text or voice group debates, as well as virtual plenary meetings with experts, comment on the draft version of the report.
The toolkit prepared by the project team encourages consultation participants to engage in a dialogue in relation to facts and objective constraints, eg by giving access to properly formatted information materials. It encourages them to a substantive debate, e.g. by introducing the requirement to use an argument to support an opinion. It supports reflective decision-making by presenting an argumentation map automatically created on the basis of the content of the text forum. It is worth noting that the software complies with the WCAG 2.0 guidelines and has been developed from the beginning with accessibility for people with disabilities in mind.
Originally, the inDialogue IT software was developed for the purpose of organizing social consultations by local public administration units. Due to the set of universal tools, after minor adjustment works taking into account the specificity of a particular organization, they can be successfully used in managing the consultation process in any organization or at the interface between different organizations.
The inDialogue software was developed by a consortium composed of: University of Warsaw (leader), Warsaw University of Technology, Association of Polish Cities, MIT Promotion Office, Free and Open Source Software Foundation (until the end of 2014), Association “Cities on the Internet” (from the beginning of 2015 .), Polish Forum of People with Disabilities (until 2016) as part of the project entitled “New Perspectives for Dialogue: Model of deliberation and IT tools for social inclusion in decision-making processes” financed by the National Center for Research and Development (Program “Social Innovations”).
